Ruoke Holiday Village operates responsibly

Ruoke Holiday Village is a family business founded in 1970 on the shores of Lake Puruvesi in Kesälahti. The Holiday Village area covers approximately 20 hectares of well-maintained pine forest. Since we are located on the shores of Lake Puruvesi, one of the clearest lakes in Finland, taking the environment into account is particularly important to us. For example, we have been a supporting member of Pro Puruvesi ry for years, which does important work for the benefit of clean Puruvesi.

In the Holiday Village restaurant, we use a lot of local, locally produced raw materials and lake fish from Lake Puruvesi. The company favors local service providers, for example in laundry, property maintenance, cleaning and construction-related activities. Waste generated at the Holiday Village is sorted and recycled appropriately.

Our solar power plant has been producing energy for the holiday village since 2016. In addition to the 10.2 kWp power plant on the roof of the main building, a 5 kWp power plant was completed on the roof of the adjacent maintenance building in spring 2020. Most of the cottages in year-round use have air-source heat pumps, as do the restaurant and maintenance building. We use water-saving taps in the cottages.

At the reception, we highlight events and sites related to cultural heritage in the nearby area. In the summer, the weekly program includes vendace soup made according to a traditional, local recipe. Bicycles, rowing boats and SUP boards are available for rent in the Holiday Village. Accessibility has been taken into account with wheelchair ramps to the reception and maintenance building. We avoid disposable products in the company.

We welcome everyone regardless of ethnic background, gender, age, nationality, sexual orientation, physical disability, religion or political opinion.
