For fishing holidays
The Holiday Village offers fishing permits and its fantastic lakeside location make it a great destination for anyone who loves fishing. We can provide a boat, equipment, and permits, and you can also join a fishing trip. You can catch landlocked salmon, trout, perch, and pike-perch from Puruvesi’s waters. In summer, the Holiday Village is the venue for the Puruveden Lohikuningas (“Puruvesi’s Salmon King”) competition, and in autumn it hosts the Puruveden syysuistelu and Puruvesi Meeting trolling events.
In winter, Puruvesi has plenty of excellent ice fishing spots. Ice fishing equipment can be rented from reception, and no permit is required for ice fishing. We can also arrange guided ice fishing trips.
After a long day of fishing, it’s lovely to relax in a holiday home and enjoy delicious food in the Holiday Village’s restaurant. In winter, top off your fishing trip with an evening in one of the area’s four saunas. We have one electric-powered sauna, 2 wood-fired saunas, and one smoke sauna available to rent.
Customer story
Helsinki resident Pekka Kuosmanen has been visiting Ruoke Holiday Village for over 30 years. He has taken trips with his family and the Siikaveljet fishing group. Today, Kuosmanen visits Ruoke up to 4–5 times a year. Fishing and various trolling events attract him to the place three times a year – he has been on the traditional Siikareissu with the Siikaveljet every autumn since 1987.
– During trolling competitions, I currently work as a Siikaveli volunteer at the competition office, and later in the autumn I do net fishing. Otherwise, I relax by enjoying the food at Ruoke, Kuosmanen says.
In the winter, Kuosmanen and his wife go to Ruoke to get excellent fish products for the Christmas table. The tradition of vacationing at Ruoke continues in the family for the second generation; the adult children also enjoy the Holiday Village with their own friends.
Kuosmanen thinks that everything is the best about Ruoke Holiday Village, but the uncompromising quality of the hosts has particularly impressed him. The magnificent surroundings, the restaurant’s fresh food selection and the fish products from Laukkanen Kala are also to Kuosmanen’s liking.
– There’s no need to go to sunny beaches abroad for good food and drink, because you can also find them at Ruoke, says Kuosmanen.
The clear-water beach is like the Riviera and the hosts take great care of its cleanliness. The unique clarity and visibility of the water also amazed Kuosman on his first visits to Ruoke. Fishing with his son on the pier is particularly memorable.
– It was sad to watch when there were no fish to be seen, Kuosmanen laughs.
There are things to do at Ruoke all year round and the surrounding nature offers something to see in every season. As a Helsinki resident, Kuosmanen also enjoys the peace of Ruoke Holiday Village – especially by the beach shelter. He recommends booking a holiday home well in advance, as the Holiday Village is very popular.
– It must be said that many people who have visited Ruoke, by chance or on purpose, have returned again, says Kuosmanen.
Kuosmanen recommends visiting Ruoke Holiday Village and stopping by for a coffee break along Kuutostie. The Holiday Village’s wonderful atmosphere and milieu must be experienced for yourself on site.

Puruvesi autumn fishing 5–6 September 2026
The Puruvesi Autumn Swivel Fishing Competition brings together fishing enthusiasts once again to enjoy the autumnal competitive atmosphere in the stunning lake scenery. The event is held in Puruvesi, and the competition center is Ruoke Holiday Village.
The competition is organized by Karjalan Kalamiehet ry, and the event offers a great opportunity to test your skills and spend time with like-minded fishermen.

Welcome to enjoy the atmosphere of Finnish music when Maarit Hurmerinta Duo comes to perform! Maarit’s long and successful career as an artist began in 1972, and over the years she has become one of the most respected interpreters of Finnish music.

Puruvesi Salmon King 2026 – 27–28 June 2026
The legendary Puruvesi Salmon King competition will be held again on 27-28.6.2026! First organized in 1983, the competition brings together fishing enthusiasts for the 42nd time for a traditional rowing-trolling competition.
The starting points of the competition are Ruoke Holiday Village (competition center) and Mäntyranta camping area. Registration is open – come and experience one of the most anticipated events of the summer!
On Saturday evening, the atmosphere continues with the Ruokke competition dances, featuring Telemark Kollektiivi.
