Ruokkeen Lomakylä is located on the shore of the clear and fish-rich Lake Puruvesi in Kesälahti, Kitee, in North Karelia. Puruvesi is part of the Saimaa lake system, and the area is known for its beautiful lake scenery and unspoiled natural surroundings. Over the decades, this small family business has grown into a versatile year-round holiday destination offering cosy accommodation, restaurant services, and experiences surrounded by nature, lakeside landscapes, and activities.

Today, guests at Ruokkee can enjoy their holiday in cottages, at the camping area, or in the guest harbour, as well as spend time fishing, exploring the outdoors, and taking part in a variety of other activities. The area also makes use of solar energy as part of its sustainable operations.

Padel Weekend

Start the outdoor padel season on the shores of Puruvesi!

The package for four (4) people includes:

Puruvesi salmonid stocking dates 31.10.–1.11.2026

The Puruvesi salmon stocking dates bring together fishing and water management enthusiasts for an autumn event. During the weekend, you can learn about stocking operations and participate in the important work of maintaining fish stocks.

The event offers an interesting program and the opportunity to spend time in the beautiful autumn nature on the shores of Puruvesi.

Puruvesi autumn fishing 5–6 September 2026

The Puruvesi Autumn Swivel Fishing Competition brings together fishing enthusiasts once again to enjoy the autumnal competitive atmosphere in the stunning lake scenery. The event is held in Puruvesi, and the competition center is Ruoke Holiday Village.

The competition is organized by Karjalan Kalamiehet ry, and the event offers a great opportunity to test your skills and spend time with like-minded fishermen.

Maarit Hurmerinta Duo – 23.7.2026

Welcome to enjoy the atmosphere of Finnish music when Maarit Hurmerinta Duo comes to perform! Maarit’s long and successful career as an artist began in 1972, and over the years she has become one of the most respected interpreters of Finnish music.

Maarit and Sami Hurmerinta form a strong and warm-hearted duo, whose performance is full of genuine love for music. During the evening, well-known songs from over the years will be heard, such as Jäätelökesä and Toiset tytöt, toiset pojat, as well as other beloved tunes.

An atmospheric summer evening full of music, emotion and togetherness is promised.

Puruvesi Race – surf competitions 4–5 July 2026

The Puruvesi Race, held in Puruvesi, brings together surf enthusiasts to compete in stunning lake scenery. The event offers a fast-paced racing atmosphere and a summery feel for both participants and spectators.

Puruvesi Salmon King 2026 – 27–28 June 2026

The legendary Puruvesi Salmon King competition will be held again on 27-28.6.2026! First organized in 1983, the competition brings together fishing enthusiasts for the 42nd time for a traditional rowing-trolling competition.

The starting points of the competition are Ruoke Holiday Village (competition center) and Mäntyranta camping area. Registration is open – come and experience one of the most anticipated events of the summer!

On Saturday evening, the atmosphere continues with the Ruokke competition dances, featuring Telemark Kollektiivi.

Padel by the shores of Puruvesi – welcome to play!

Come and play padel by the shores of Lake Puruvesi in Kesälahti, Kitee! The padel court at Ruokkeen Lomakylä offers excellent facilities throughout the summer for both casual players and more active enthusiasts. Padel combines exercise, fun social moments, and the relaxed atmosphere of a summer holiday in a stunning lakeside setting.

For families with children

The whole family will have fun at Ruoke Holiday Village!

For water lovers, the Holiday Village’s location by the clear waters of Lake Puruvesi is a real stroke of luck, and the shallow beach is perfect for children. For active families, the Holiday Village offers a variety of activities, such as mini golf, fishing and cycling. In winter, you can practice skating and skiing with your children.

For caravanners

The Holiday Village's services guarantee a successful holiday for caravanners!

The Holiday Village has 70 places for caravans, about half of which are used by seasonal campers. The area has maintenance buildings and services for tourists, such as shower/toilet facilities, kitchen and dining areas, washing machines and a dryer.

For fishing holidays

A fisherman's dream destination!

The fishing services offered by the Holiday Village and its fantastic location on the shore make it easy to go fishing. We provide you with a boat, equipment and permits, and if you wish, you can also take part in guided fishing trips. In Puruvesi, you can catch lake salmon, trout, perch and pike.
